I made this work as a study before I started the larger collage work of adhesive film on drawing polyester on a light box. That eventually became The Parable of the Soils 3, 2020, h 101.6 cm x w 152.4 cm (h 40 in x w 60 in).

Working on a collage on light box series of five, I made this manual collage on paper as the third in the series. The collages of adhesive film on drawing polyester on light box series, entitled “Vernissage”, were included in a group exhibition of Fontana Gallery in Amsterdam at the KunstRai/Art Amsterdam art fair in the Netherlands. I have never shown these paper collages before. For this series of work, I was inspired by a poignant contemporary event: a violent disruption of the opening of an exhibition in an art gallery. My fascination is the unpredictable and sudden intense occurrence that falls outside the regular scenarios. I always disapprove of negative behavior and support good energy. The media images I use are a reflection of the times in which we live now.

I made this work, drawing and collage on paper, as a warm up for a large collage work of adhesive film on drawing polyester on lightbox. For a project consisting of a series of larger collage works on a light box,
I had been fascinated for some time by the theme of The Parable of the Sower. Content that deals in a broader sense with life and death, optimism and negativism, with one not necessarily linked to the other. Finally, after this work, Parable of the Sower 10, series 14 was created.
